Story 6 - Sydney
The Day Shion Came was a story that really got me thinking about our relationships with AI and robots. I often get caught up in the idea that we don't need them and that they will take over and defeat us one day. However, this story set my mind in a different direction. With the way Shion interacted with people from the nursing home and how she was able to have a "heart" without really having one, I saw AI in a different light. Many times the main character mentioned how much of a toll being a nurse took on their bodies and how they had to retire early. Through Shion's relationship with Kanbara and Isezaki, I saw that if we give them good memories and teach them why feelings are so important, why would they rebel? I think it all depends on the type of technology we are able to develop in the future. It also sparked my interest, why are we trying to recreate ourselves? If they are AI why dress them and make them look like humans? It makes sense now but in the future it...
