Yamamoto 3 - Matt
After reading story 3 in Yamamoto's novel the first piece of media that came to mind was WestWorld. In the most recent episode, airing Sunday, May 13, 2018, the show revealed a long time effort by one of the characters to mesh a human brain with a robot's body. The project took over 20 years much like Seiya Saeki's Strong Eye project to show how harmless AI could be. In the episode, the cyborg named Delos lasted on average 30 days before malfunction and needed to be re-made. Another thing that came to mind was the constant updates of the iPhone. We seem to get small updates every 3-4 months while major updates (new devices) come out early. Each model better than the last with increased memory and functionality. Thirdly, the development of video game characters came to mind, specifically Master Cheif from Halo and his relationship with his AI Cortana. The relationship develops such that Cheif ends up trusting his personal AI so much that when she eventually malfunctions, he goes to extreme lengths to save her.
I consider Edison's innovation of technology to be apart of that quote. Because while at the time it was a huge invention, the innovation and full use of electricity have yet to be seen. Another event would be the development and understanding of modern medicine. The understanding of the human body and how to fix it has only recently come about in relation to how long humans have been on Earth. Allowing us to live much longer and more efficiently than before.
