what it means to be learning about digital cultures via fiction


It is important to learn about digital cultures in general, because we are now living in an age where we are practically dependent on the digital. Everything we use on a daily basis is digital. With that said, there are many ways to learn about such things. We should not restrict ourselves to facts, but also learn via fiction. The way that we live today was once a fantasy, so there are many sources of fiction that explore the digital world.

a) In my own experience with the use of virtual spaces, I find it difficult to develop complex interpersonal relationships. It is possible to begin relationships through the use of virtual spaces, however I do not think it is possible to maintain any type of relationship unless the relationship is sought beyond the virtual space and into a real and intimate space. This is true especially if the relationship happens between a fully real entity. Yamamoto - Story 7 (Lauren)

provide an overview of your thoughts, feelings, ideas, responses to the book as a whole Overall, I liked the book. I think the idea of sending a message through storytelling is very interesting. The future is essentially unpredictable, but Yamamoto’s book offers an interesting interpretation with Artificial Intelligence. I really like how optimistic the book is, because most of us tend to be afraid of what might happen with AI, but there are a lot of positive aspects to appreciate about technology (as long as we don’t lose control of it).
