Chapter 4-5




These photos arranged chronologically represented the ideas Davis's discussed in chapter 4 and 5.  Begining at the bottom with candles, representing religion and a time before technology, besides an image of the Freemasons. Followed by a psychedelic image of the mind in correlation with of the discovery of atoms in relation to the technological atom (the pixel). Then combining Davis's mention of extropy and entropy with a comic only to be seen above with his mention of space and cowboys.  While at the top is man's evolution through the homo sapiens stage to what we wee today as man/woman with the computer as one.  -Matt Stallone

a) In my own experience with the use of virtual spaces, I find it difficult to develop complex interpersonal relationships. It is possible to begin relationships through the use of virtual spaces, however I do not think it is possible to maintain any type of relationship unless the relationship is sought beyond the virtual space and into a real and intimate space. This is true especially if the relationship happens between a fully real entity. Yamamoto - Story 7 (Lauren)

provide an overview of your thoughts, feelings, ideas, responses to the book as a whole Overall, I liked the book. I think the idea of sending a message through storytelling is very interesting. The future is essentially unpredictable, but Yamamoto’s book offers an interesting interpretation with Artificial Intelligence. I really like how optimistic the book is, because most of us tend to be afraid of what might happen with AI, but there are a lot of positive aspects to appreciate about technology (as long as we don’t lose control of it).
